Dr. Kenneth G-J Ooi

Dr. Kenneth Ooi is a cataract and refractive laser surgeon and general ophthalmologist and with an interest in the ocular surface and ocular inflammation including dry eye inflammatory states.

He undertook clinical research fellowships in cornea at the Prince of Wales and Sydney Eye Hospitals in Sydney and in uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of Ophthalmology in London. He is currently conducting dry eye research as a Clinical Senior Lecturer through the Corneal Research Group at the Save Sight Institute, University of Sydney. He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the School of Medical Sciences, University of New South Wales.

He has been nominated for numerous awards including the Troutman Cornea Prize for Young Clinician Investigators, University of New South Wales Early-Stage Innovation Award and National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation Grant. He has won the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Annual Research Day Prize and been a recipient of NHMRC and Sydney Nano grants through the Save Sight Institute, University of Sydney.

He has authored numerous publications and 2 book chapters including one on cataract surgery and dry eye.  He sits on research and fund-raising committees as an Australian Vision Research member; is on various pharmaceutical educational as well as medical advisory boards for the introduction of new dry eye therapies into Australia and has a patent on a novel dry eye drop.

Dr. Ooi is in private practice at the George Street Eye Centre in the CBD, Sydney Eye Clinic Darlinghurst and Brookvale and the North Shore Eye Centre in St. Leonards. He is versed in French, German and Cantonese.
